16-Bit ALU in Minecraft

16-Bit ALU in Minecraft

OK, so we all know Minecraft is for playing... right? Well not for theinternetftw, it isn't! It's for making a computer in it! I know what Redstone is and only recently I have begun to ponder on what I can achieve with it. Maybe I'll learn how to set-up my own booby-trap! Or maybe some doors! But no, this guy (who's name we do not know) has recreated a freaking ALU in Minecraft. For those who are not tech-savvy, I took a hardware class in high-school, so let me flaunt my knowledge for bit. ALU is a circuit that goes inside the Central Processing Unit. The ALU performs logical and arithmetic operations. Logical operations are those of "arguments" and even those can be broken into four theories.Arithmetic, as you guessed, performs math operations.

Anyway, things like these only further the excitement for Minecrafters everywhere who wonder what Minecraft can produce. Things like these make Minecraft "not just a game". I may not understand Redstone yet, but this looksmagnificentlycreated. But, if my memory did serve me right -- I have seen a much simple one before. A calculator if I recall was set-on Minecraft and it could calculate using simple operators from 0-9. But this one beats the one I just told you by a long shot. But want to know the best part? He's not done. His next goal: memory. An lest I forget, the video in all it's glory. Enjoy.
